High Road’s Debut Album Right it Down with 7 original tracks
A scholars ink lasts longer than a martyrs blood - Gaelic saying
Right it Down -- The album’s namesake and the groups’ mindset. The lyrics track lead singer Iain Johnson’s journey from a rebellious teenager to a writer, poet and peace-seeker. The sounds encompass a bass instrumental to the haunting chords of the harp and fiddle.
Hills of Spring -- The captivating strains of the fiddle open this ballad about a love story between two unlikely people and the hope that leads the way to their happiness.
Money or the Music -- This upbeat rock tune fuses an Irish jig beat with a classical rock rhythm. If this lovely jig doesn’t get your feet stomping, nothing will.
The Highland -- Dedicated to bass the Irish homeland, the song is actually a political commentary about expansionism and futurism with music’s place in it. The lute, harp and Irish twang to the music will echo in you long after the song has ended.
The Locals -- These hilariously funny lyrics about the Irish music festival scene and the people who frequent the shows will have you laughing for days. For anyone who has ever air-played a flute or journeyed to a Celtic Music festival, this song is for you. An ironic bass beat and chirpy flute enhance the carnival air of the song.
Runaway -- The indie-Irish rhythms on this track alone could leave you in tears. The story of Travis O’Brien’s father is the main influence to these haunting lyrics about a choice that no person should ever have to make.
Music Angel -- The last track on Right it Down, the song is dedicated to the spouses of the band members. Letting the CD end on a positive note, Music Angel is a song about love and life, poker and Irish beer. As the lyrics say, ‘For the girls, guinness, golden sunsets, Gae Lalli!’
